Hi-Tech Aging

Lutheran Homes of SC is proud to be a CAST partner to sponsor the video High-Tech Aging: Improving Lives Today which gives a glimpse, through the eyes of one family, of what the future of aging could look like in the future with help from developing technologies that are possible, practical, affordable and ethical. Watch the video now to see how these technologies have the potential to improve care, preserve independence and ensure quality of life for seniors while reducing costs.

There are numerous technologies in the video including in-home monitoring and pill dispensers.

A simple fall can have devastating consequences. Lutheran Homes assisted living residents benefit from the Standard Lifeline Medical Alert Service—push the button for help at any time. Franke at Seaside and the Heritage Active Lifestyle residents benefit from the new Philips Lifeline with AutoAlert. AutoAlert offers all the service from a Standard Lifeline Medical Alert —plus an added layer of protection. A Lifeline with AutoAlert is the first pendant-style help button that can automatically place a call for help if it detects a fall and you’re unable to push the button yourself. Soon, this service will also be offered to benefit BeWell Home Service clients living at home in neighboring communities throughout the state.

As people age, medication errors can become a serious problem. BeWell Home Services clients may purchase a portable Pill Dispenser to assist with reminders to take the right medicines at the right time.

With the knowledge and skill sets existing among aging-services providers, research universities and the technology industry, the opportunity to re-invent healthcare is emerging. As technologies that keep people independent and healthy are developed, tomorrow’s seniors will want access to these solutions. Lutheran Homes is planning for change now so we will be prepared to provide cutting-edge high-tech services that tomorrow’s seniors will demand.
